Nature will save us... La nature nous sauvera...

Driving with Olivia last week-end. Always an interesting experience as the gal just won't shut up. Ever. I only have to answer "yes" and nod from time to time and we can go for miles and miles. We were coming back from running errands, when she said:

- Mommy! Why are there so many trees in Moncton?

- I don't know honey, but aren't we lucky to live where there are so many trees.

- Yeah... nature will save us, she answered while gazing out of her window.

My heart swelled with pride. Seven years old and so full of wisdom. We must be doing something right after all to instill such a respect in the wonders of nature...

Well, you have read my blog before. You are probably shaking your head right now at how naive I must be to give my own adult interpretation to such a profound statement. Anyway, I was still basking in the moment when she continued with:

- Nature will save us like if you climb too high in a tree, a giraffe can come and take you with its teeth to safely take you back on the ground.

OK, maybe we'll take a number for profound wisdom! Let's change that to vivid imagination. I had to laugh and answered:

- Well, I wouldn't climb trees if I were you... Seen many giraffes around here?

- You're right! But an elephant could do it too! You know, with its trunk!

 So there you go my friends... if you meet a giraffe on your way home tonight, just be aware that not too far, there is a kid with bite marks and a crazy story to tell! Just don't climb too high in the trees... you never know!

 En conduisant avec Olivia la semaine dernière. C'est toujours une expérience intéressante puisqu'elle la fille ne se la ferme pas! Jamais. Je n'ai qu'à répondre "oui" de temps en temps et on peut faire des miles et des miles. On revenait de faire des commissions quand elle m'a dit:

- Maman! Pourquoi y-a-il tant d'arbres à Moncton?

- Je ne sais pas ma puce, mais ne sommes-nous pas chanceux de vivre où il y a tant d'arbres?

- Oui... la nature nous sauveras, qu'elle me répond en regardant par la fenêtre.

Mon coeur s'est gonflé de fierté. Sept ans et d'une telle sagesse. On doit faire quelque chose de bien après tout pour instiller un tel respect des merveilles de la nature...

Bien, vous avez lu mon blog avant. Vous vous secouez probablement déjà la tête en vous disant combien je suis naïve de prêter mon interprétation d'adulte à un énoncé d'une telle profondeur... Toujours est-il que je profitais du moment quand elle a continué:

- La nature nous sauveras. Par exemple, si tu montes trop haut dans un arbre, une giraffe peut venir et te prendre dans ses dents pour te remettre au sol en sécurité.

Bon. Peut-être qu'on va repasser pour la sagesse profonde! Allons-y plutôt pour l'imagination foudroyante! Je n'ai pu que rire et répondre:

- J'éviterais de monter des arbres si j'étais toi... tu as vu beaucoup de giraffe par ici?

- T'as raison! Mais un éléphant pourrait le faire aussi! Tu sais, avec sa trompe!

Alors voilà mes amis... si vous rencontrez une giraffe en retournant à la maison ce soir, sachez que pas très loin, il y a un enfant avec des marques de morsure et une histoire rocambolesque à raconter! Ne montez pas trop haut dans les arbres... on ne sait jamais!
