Tooth Fairy DIY... La fée des dents par soi-même...

Here's what happens when there is only one kid in the house who believes in the tooth fairy:
1)  The non-believer looses a tooth.
2)  The believer gets excited.
3)  A few hours later, the believer goes to bed.
4)  The non-believer goes to bed later by which time, the believer is asleep.
5)  The non-believer walks into the parents room, silently hand over the tooth and then rummage in the change jar.  Counts two dollars in change.  Say thanks.  Go place the change at the head of her bed.

Price to keep the myth going:  $2
Big sister caring enough to keep the myth going:  priceless!

Existential Question... Question existentielle...

Did I ever mention that life with Olivia is never boring?

Third day of school. It is now only her and I in the car in the morning, as Emily is taking the bus to a different school now that she is in grade 6. The discussion goes somewhat like this:

Her: Mommy, yesterday we decided the rules of the class. Ourselves! I said that you had to respect everybody. Not only in the class, but everywhere.

Me: That is an excellent rule!

Her: Yes, it is important to respect everybody in the whole world. Well, except robbers. (Yes, this kid has a thing going against robbers... they are beyond Voldermort or Gargamel....) And it is super important to respect Santa. Do you believe in Santa Claus Mommy?

Me (with my head spinning at the change of subject and suddenly thin ice!): Wow, it has been a while since I really thought about it! What about you, do you believe in Santa?

Her: Yes I do! And he exists! Because if not, imagine how ridiculous it would be for parents to get up in the middle of the night just to place presents under the tree! Imagine how silly that would be!

Me (trying to keep a straight face): That would be silly all right! So I guess I still believe too then.

Her: Yeah, that is what I thought...

Happy Easter! Joyeuses Pâques!

Olivia could not wait to give us her card when she came back from school on Thursday afternoon.  Never mind that it wasn't Easter yet, she just had to give it, the moment she walked in the house.

So, here is the card in question.  A colorful Easter egg decorated with wool and colored toothpicks.  Yes, toothpicks.  Don't ask.  We don't know.

But wait, there is a surprise...  You pull the top of the egg and a cute little chick appears...  wait for it...

Ta-daa!  Here it is!  At this point, you gush over how cute this is, and you think that this was the highlight of the card...  But if life with Olivia thaught you anything it is to never assume that you know what is next...
Ta-daa!

Now, let me translate:  Dear parents.  You are lucky to have kids like us.  I love you.  Thank you for eveything and for all the vacations.  xoxoxo.  Happy Easter.

The two things to remember from this:
1-  She is right, we are lucky!
2-  Maybe your next birthday card from me will state how lucky you are to know me!
